Family Friends Visit Riven Rock Ranch

Saturday, July 16, 2011

We adore having guests here at Riven Rock Ranch, whether they're staying in the cottages or personal guests staying in the Main House with the English-Havens family. This week we played host to Nicole Rammer, a family friend of Kathryn, Perry and Hunter. She flew in from Tennessee to catch up with old family friends and get a taste of what it's like to live and work at a small, family-owned bed and breakfast.

Where do you go to school and what year are you? How did you decide to pursue hospitality as a major and a career path?
I am going into my junior year at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and decided to pursue Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management as my major just about a year ago. I choose this major because I wanted a work atmosphere with a friendly, upscale atmosphere, but also somewhere with many career options and opportunities. With this major I can move around from hotel work, to event planning, to sales. The possibilities seem endless.

What sort of lessons did you learn during your stay? Were there any surprises?
I was in awe the entire time I stayed at Riven Rock Ranch. I had no idea how beautiful the Hill Country was going to be and enjoyed running every morning. I was surprised to see tons of deer, wild turkeys, and a coyote. I was most fascinated with the hummingbirds that surround you at the restaurant while you are eating.

What was your favorite part of your visit to Riven Rock?
The staff at Riven Rock was very close and seemed like a family. My favorite part about my stay was getting to see all the different rooms and cottages and take mental notes of the decor so I can try to imitate it in my own home. It will be hard! It was a hard vacation to leave.

Nicole's Interview

What a great job Allison is doing with her interviews and blogs. Sometimes I get so busy I forget to keep up with all that she is doing. Thanks Allison!
